Composer's comment and program list:

I'm delighted to have been included as one of the living composers in the 30th anniversary concert of the Atlanta Young Singers of Callanwolde, which took place this past Saturday.

What's most remarkable about the program itself is that all of the music was by living composers, including a pair of premieres by Irish composer Mary McAuliffe. More telling, all of the music was written, arranged or "interpreted" within the past fourteen years; thus, says music director Paige Mathis, all within the lifetime of most of the singers onstage. (AYSC's various ensembles include singers ages 8 to 18.) Two Atlanta-area composers were represented in the mix (the other was songwriter Elise Witt), but many composers came from far-flung countries and cultures of the world, which reflected the other principal theme of AYSC's program.

To save blog space: For those interested in more about the program, I'm posting the complete program list on my own website, here.

As always, your public comments in this blogspace are welcomed.
